UCD Traditional Music Practices feat. Paddy Glackin: “Seven Springs” Album Launch

Launching their debut album with trad legend Paddy Glackin, the UCD Traditional Music Practices ensemble presents an evening of trad tunes from across Ireland, and original compositions by Dónal Lunny, Paddy Glackin, and ythe UCD students.

This 20-piece trad orchestra has been working with Glackin and Lunny over the past three years creating original tunes as well as new arrangements of traditional music from Ireland to Macedonia. 

The title track of their new album, Seven Springs, is a brand new composition written by Dónal Lunny in 2023 especially for this ensemble. This Balkan-inspired tune is presented here in its debut recording. 

The album also includes compositions by Paddy Glackin, and by the students themselves, alongside tunes from the Goodman archive of the 1840s. Free album downloads and a limited number of free CDs will be available for ticket-holders on the evening.
