About Fensive

A screening, but this is not a film. A panel discussion, but there will be little discussing.

An artist’s examination of examining. A sonic collaboration with Julie Weber and Holly Hudson Taylor.

Fensive lies between documentary, artist’s film and a music video. It follows an artist’s examination of an environment – Clogheenmilcon Fen in Blarney. It documents and demystifies the process of the artist after a period of stagnation. Using sardonic humour, it explores the oscillation of creating a tangible output within an assigned frame of time.

Weber’s work examines the concept of ontology and the possible new subjects created through relentless rhythmic behaviour. These subjects are examined through her speculative fiction and each new environment explored. The work merges hand-made and technological methodologies to create a mutated, multidisciplinary output and reflect that of the subjects. She is particularly interested in the states of stagnancy and evolution, by which two living things evolve or regress in response to changes in each other. This materialises through performance, textiles, sound compositions and moving image.
