More about Yankari Afrobeat Collective:

Combining rhythms, melodies, and parables from their respective Yoruba and Igbo roots, along with addictive hooks delivered in pidgin-english, Yankari Afrobeat Collective take you back to the classic Afrobeat era of the 1960s and 70s west-African music scene. The band was formed in 2013 in a Direct Provision Center kitchen in Dun-Laoghaire, Ireland by friends Uche, Segun and Michael. Facing the uncertainties of their new home, the boys turned to music to keep them connected to their African heritage.

Collaborating with other talented musicians from all over the world based in around the Dublin City area, Yankari Afrobeat Collective has grown into a 13 piece band and have performed to sold out crowds at music festivals like All Together Now, Africa Day, Electric Picnic, Knockanstockan, Global Grooves, Laya City Spectacular, Hotter Than July, Bray Jazz, and more. With a fan-base spanning across Europe, Asia, Africa, and the Americas, their sound fits in anywhere people gather to dance. They have also supported bands such as Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, Seun Kuti with Fela’s original Egypt 80 and Kila amongst others.
