MAIN ROOM

Code’s First Dublin show in years…
Code has spent sixteen years building Subtle Audio up into one of the most respected label groups in the Drum & Bass game, with a focus on the timeless fundamentals of breakbeats and atmospheres and a firmly experimental ethos that has won plaudits and plays from everyone from Aphex Twin to Thom Yorke. He’s back with a bang in 2022, with a whole heap of forthcoming material lined up for release across all three of his labels, and shows at Open Ear festival and far beyond. This is his first Dublin appearance in some years, and it is not to be missed.

Nick Fury (Spectrum, RTE Pulse) Nick Fury has been pushing the soulful sounds since the late 00s, both on air for RTE Pulse in the club. His Spectrum night brought DnB royalty like Calibre, Jubei, Random Movement, Artificial Intellgence, Eveson, Genotype, Fabio and many many more to Dublin over the years, and as a DJ of some repute himself he’s well known for his capacity to draw something soulful, unexpected and rolling.

Executive Steve (Raidio Na Life 106.4FM) is the hardest working man in Irish Drum & Bass but if he treated it like a job he’d most likely get sacked. After nearly 15 years now as the host of the long-running An Fuaim show on Raidio Na Life 106.4FM he can also reasonably legitimately claim to be one of the most enduring voices in Irish electronic music radio. Executive Steve likes his basslines slung low, his breakbeats broken, and his strings sampled.

MC Steo (Metalheadz, V, The North Quarter, Shogun Audio, Spectrum) – Steo is one of the most well known Drum & Bass vocalists n the world, he’s worked with everyone from Artificial Intelligence and Calibre to Tokyo Prose and Zero T, touched down on big-ticket labels like Metalheadz and V, and has the airmiles to prove it. Formerly a member of The Infomatics, and latterly featured on Mango & Mathman’s Casual Work LP, he’s also been holding court into a mic in the dark corner of the booth since way back in the Baassbin era.

FOOTWORK ROOM

Don Rosco of Basbin curates a night of Footwork in the side bar (we have Klipschorn sound system in there now), he’s joined on the night by SimSimma crew resident audio medic the Gully Doctor who graced the Sugar Club streams a while back and another queen of DDR Cathy Flynnn, Expect rapid rhythms and sub-bass frequencies and ghetto house galore…

Don Rosco is a Dublin based DJ with deep roots in the Irish electronic scene. DJing since the 90s, Don Rosco was a member of seminal Irish Jungle crew Bassbin. His musical interests are wide ranging, from UK Hardcore, to Footwork, to Indian Classical, to Krautrock and beyond. He has hosted a weekly radio show on Dublin’s legendary Power FM for 25 years, and also hosts Ireland’s only dedicated Footwork radio show on Dublin Digital Radio.

Gullydoctor has been DJing parties in with Dublin solo and with Sim Simma for the past 11 years, first as a reggae and dancehall selector but now playing a blend of ukg, dubstep, footwork and jungle, with many sojourns into other styles. Truly, no flavour or feeling is off limits in his selections once the energy is correct.

Ddr dynamo Cathy Flynn is a fan of all kinds of bass and will jump at any opportunity to play loud tunes on big speakers. Look forward to a special selection of rumbley footwork in the Sugar Club side room.
