The Dublin Story Slam
The Dublin Story Slam – Begin Again
The Dublin Story Slam returns in January 2026 together with First Fortnight, inviting audiences to hear – and share – true personal stories inspired by the theme Begin Again. From fresh starts and new relationships to big life changes and moments of resilience, the night celebrates stories of starting over and finding your way forward.
Story Slam is a competitive open-mic storytelling event where up to eight storytellers are selected to share a true story from their own life, told live and without notes. Audience judges score each story, with the winner crowned Story Slam Champion and progressing to compete at the annual Grand Slam at the Abbey Theatre.
No stage experience is needed, and stories can be funny, heartfelt, or reflective – as long as they’re true. The evening also includes anonymous audience “mini epics” read aloud by the host.
For those whose stories connect to mental health, a storytelling workshop will take place on January 10th, with all proceeds supporting First Fortnight’s Creative Therapies.
